Who we are
Safar Salah is an in-flight and on-the-ground prayer times and Qibla app operated by Safar Salah, based in Texas, USA. Contact: safarsalahapp@gmail.com.
Location
When you tap Use my location, your browser asks for permission. If you allow it, your coordinates are used on your device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. Your location is not stored on our server unless you turn on prayer notifications (see below).
To show your city name, the app sends your coordinates to BigDataCloud's free reverse-geocoding service. BigDataCloud handles that request under its own privacy policy. If you type a city or coordinates yourself, no location is sent anywhere.
Prayer notifications
If you turn on Prayer notifications, your browser creates a push address for your device. We store that address on our server (Cloudflare) together with your approximate location (rounded to about 100 m), time zone, calculation settings and, if you planned one, your flight's prayer reminders. We use this only to send you a notification when each prayer time starts. Notifications are delivered through your browser's push service (for example Google or Apple).
Turning notifications off deletes this information from our server straight away. Subscriptions that have not been used for 60 days are deleted automatically.
Compass and motion sensors
The Qibla compass reads your phone's compass heading on your device only. Nothing is sent or stored.
Flight details and settings
Airports, flight times, calculation method, madhhab and your last location are saved in your browser's local storage so they are there next time. They stay on your device. You can remove them by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Fonts
The app loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google's servers to download them, which shares your IP address with Google under Google's privacy policy.
Advertising
Safar Salah does not show ads today. If ads are added later (for example Google AdSense or AdMob), the ad provider may use cookies or device identifiers to show and measure ads. We will update this policy before that happens and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
Feedback and support
If you send feedback, your message, rating, topic and (only if you give it) your email address are delivered to our inbox through FormSubmit, an email-forwarding service. If you tick "Include my current flight or city and settings", the airports and times or city you entered, your calculation settings, the app version and your browser type are included so we can check the times. We use this only to reply and improve the app.
Donations are handled by Ko-fi and its payment partners under their own privacy policies. We receive your name and message only if you choose to share them there.
Purchases and orders
If you buy a personalized flight prayer plan (for example on Etsy), the platform processes your payment and shares your order and flight details with us so we can prepare your plan. We use those details only to fulfil your order.
Children
Safar Salah does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page with a new effective date.
